Dennis started his professional career in Tax, Legal and Business Advisory division of Arthur Andersen Shanghai in 1998, where he won outstanding performance awards for a consecutive four years.  He had worked with more than 150 major global and domestic corporate clients including General Motors, Phillip Morris, Kodak, Carrefour, BASF, Metro, JVC, Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank, Toshiba, Sinotrans, etc.  The major services areas he focused on include investment advisory, corporate tax planning, transactions services (due diligence), customs and international trade, human capital, etc.  In 2000, Arthur Andersen sent Dennis to its headquarter in Chicago for an intensive learning of Human Capital and US tax regulations.

In year 2002, Dennis joined General Electric as China tax manager.  In this position, Dennis gained an in-depth understanding of their business operations.  He has been actively involved in all GE merger & acquisitions, new business set-ups in China since 2002 (more than 20 projects for 8 GE businesses).  He worked on international and local tax planning projects and saved the company millions of dollars each year.  Dennis also went proactively to existing business entities to conduct tax health checks (more than 10 projects since 2002), identified business and tax issues and developed practical solutions.  Moreover, Dennis managed several key government tax audits and has been very successful on that front.

Major Achievements 

• Saved US$10 million in taxes for GE through effective tax planning
• Identified and mitigated US$8 million issues/risks in due diligences/tax reviews. Provided practical solutions, and led the implementation efforts to follow through.
• Led the establishment/improvement of statutory accounting and tax processes for new and existing ventures in China.  (VAT/Business Tax reporting, tax estimation, tax invoice reconciliation, book to tax adjustments, inter-company charges compliance, etc.)
• Successfully designed and managed a digital compliance tools (tax dashboard)
• Managed five tax/customs audits:  Achieved 2 zero assessments, other 3 with minimum settlement of less than USD 10K.
